Cycling News: Salo's school-food tour, Horner presents tonight, better bike lanes

Cycling news roundup y'all.

Sara Salo, spokeswoman and organizer of the School Food Tour, leaves for her 6,000+ mile trip tomorrow. Her self supported bike tour is an effort to promote healthy eating and cycling for both transportation and recreation. If you see her around town today, throw her a high five — what she's doing is pretty awesome.

Chris Horner, one of the fastest and most respected riders in world, is speaking tonight at the Tower. Word has it that renown cycling commentator Dave Towle will be on hand to conduct an interview with Horner as well as local fast guys Carl Decker and Ryan Trebon. Show starts at 7pm tonight.

Cyclists rejoice: the county is already phasing out the chip sealing of many bike lines in the area. It saves them money and saves the bums' of bike riders (and their average speeds). City Councilor Capell spoke out in favor of better (non-chip sealed) bike lanes during last night's City Council meeting.
