It looks like it's going to be awhile before the next storm cycle pushes through Central Oregon. While we wait for more snow to fall in the mountains, know that there's plenty of nordic skiing opportunities just outside of town, begging for your tracks.

Throw some money at Meissner Nordic (formerly known as Tumalo Langlauf ski club) as they're the ones who keep the 40k-trail network well groomed throughout the winter. Speaking of, Saturday, Dec. 3 is opening day at the Sno-Park (currently the trails are open, but ungroomed—great for classic skiing and touring).
The grooming schedule (starting Saturday) for the winter is as follows: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings. The first grooming pass is normally complete by 9:30am with a second pass scheduled for noon.
The folks at Bend Endurance report that Swampy is skiing well with a good base and excellent crust-cruising opportunities.
Get out there and enjoy winter.
