Bend's sustainable food market is about to get a lot more accessible. Locavore, the non-profit that offers a year-round online local farmer's market, has moved into a new space on 1st St. near Miller Lumber.
This weekend, they're celebrating the addition of a brick and mortar store to their online marketplace.
Locavore hopes their new location will become a food hub in the community, where Bendites can buy locally sourced groceries and attend educational sustainable food-based workshops and events.
This weekend, Locavore is hosting two events to break in their new locale. All day Friday, they celebrate their grand opening with food and drink tastings and meet and greets with local farmers and producers.
On Saturday from 8pm to 1am, they will hold a Locavore Loves U Dance Party fundraiser. DJ bPollen and DJ Swett will provide music, and stationary bike races will be offered by Cascade Couriers and Bend Velo. You'll also be able to stuff your face at the pink pancake feed.
Tickets for Saturday's festivities are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. All proceeds go to support Locavore in their new location. The crew encourages you to bring your own cup to cut down on waste, and ride your bike to the event.
