Weekend Roundup! 4/19-4/21

Finally, the weekend is here! Time to kick back and relax, go on an adventure, or just enjoy the (hopefully) nice weather. If you need some ideas on what to do this weekend, here's what's happening:

FRIDAY, APRIL 19

The Pirates of Penzance, Jr.
April 19 - April 21
Looking for some lighthearted laughs this weekend? Check out the Bend Experimental Art Theatre’s production of The Pirates of Penzance, Jr. A clever and entertaining remake of the 1879 original by Gilbert and Sullivan, Pirates spins a hilarious farce of sentimental pirates, bumbling policemen, dim-witted young lovers, dewy-eyed daughters and an eccentric Major-General, all morally bound to the often-ridiculous dictates of honor and duty.
Tickets cost $15 for adults; $10 for students. For information on show times or to purchase tickets, go to BEAT.

SATURDAY, APRIL 20

Earth Day Fair and Parade
Come celebrate sustainable living at the 24th annual Earth Day Fair and Parade, hosted by the Environmental Center in downtown Bend. This event will include live music, local food, activities and games for children, non-profit organizations and green businesses.

The 14th annual Earth Day Parade will once again jump-start the festivities. a festive event where children and adults participate dressed in costumes of their favorite species or representations of the natural world. There are only three parade rules: no written words, no motorized vehicles and no live pets.

Staging for the parade will start at 10:30am on Louisiana Ave. (next to McMenamins). The parade will begin at 11am, wind through downtown Bend, and conclude at the Earth Day Fair on Kansas Ave.

SATURDAY, APRIL 20

Nature's Beloved Son: Rediscovering John Muir's Botanical Legacy
If you love the outdoors, don't miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn about the father of wilderness conservation.

John Muir’s passion for the nature and beauty of plants significantly influenced his drive to
preserve wilderness. This exhibition traces his travels, and presents vivid images and specimens
of the actual plants that Muir preserved for all time. Hosted by the High Desert Museum, this all day event is a traveling exhibition from Exhibit Envoy.

Cost is included with Admission Rates: $12 for adults; $10 for seniors (65 plus); $7 for youths (ages 5-12); Free for children (4 and under)
