What in the World? Today's News

Posted By on Fri, Dec 27, 2013 at 10:36 AM

Likely the last What in the World for 2013, here's what's brewing in the news today.

Party at the N.S.A! This morning a federal judge ruled that the National Security Agency's practice of keeping systematic phone records of all Americans is lawful! The decision caused conflict in lower courts and means that the final decision in the matter will likely be made by the Supreme Court.

A new war on sex...The Associated Press reported this morning that the number of reported sexual assault cases in the military has jumped more than 50 percent in the last year to more than 5,000 cases filed by Sept. 30, 2013.

In lighter news...TV bender! If you still have a few days off, Netflix has released a list of all of the things you should be binge watching right now.

And here's a lovely list of 100 things we didn't know last year provided by BBC. #1. It would have taken 2.5 million seagulls to lift James's giant peach into the air, not the 501 that Roald Dahl suggested.

Finally...enjoy DJ Earworm's United States of Pop 2013 music mashup.
