This week’s SOUND page features Red Molly, a trio of folksy and brash female songwriters as well as Bend funk outfit Elektrapod, a band fronted by female powerhouse vocalist Ze Rox. In honor of those groups, this week’s mixtape is all about other female songwriting talents. Starting with the sultry sounds of pianist Nerina Pallot singing “We Made it Through Another Year” then moving towards the Carole King-like sounds of Rumer, then finishing with one of 2012’s best newcomers, R&B vocalist Cold Specks, this playlist celebrates some very beautiful and touching music.
