Well, it's not Oscar night unless we make some Oscar predictions, so here are a few of mine before the big night happens. These aren't necessarily all the things I want to win, as much as they are the things that will probably win, but I've never been that great predicting the Oscars anyway.

BEST PICTURE: "Spotlight"

BEST ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE: Leonardo DiCaprio- "The Revenant"

ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE: Brie Larson- "Room"

ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE: Sylvester Stallone- "Creed"

ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE: Alicia Vikander- "The Danish Girl"

ANIMATED FEATURE FILM: "Inside Out"

CINEMATOGRAPHY: Emmanuel Lubezki- "The Revenant"

COSTUME DESIGN: Jenny Beavan- "Mad Max- Fury Road"

DIRECTING: George Miller- "Mad Max-Fury Road" (It will probably be Innaritu for "Revenant, but I'm pulling for Miller.

DOCUMENTARY: "Amy" (although it should be "Cartel Land" or "The Look of Silence")

DOCUMENTARY SHORT SUBJECT: "Body Team 12"

EDITING: Margaret Sixel- "Mad Max- Fury Road"

FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM: "Son of Saul" (but "Mustang" might sweep in)

MAKEUP AND HAIRSTYLING: "The Revenant"

ORIGINAL SCORE: Ennio Morricone- "The Hateful Eight"

ORIGINAL SONG: "Earned It"- "Fifty Shades of Grey"

PRODUCTION DESIGN: "Mad Max-Fury Road"

SHORT FILM ANIMATED: "Bear Story"

SHORT FILM LIVE ACTION: "Ave Maria"

SOUND EDITING: "Mad Max-Fury Road"

SOUND MIXING: "Mad Max-Fury Road"

VISUAL EFFECTS: "Mad Max- Fury Road"

WRITING (ADAPTED SCREENPLAY): "The Big Short"

WRITING (ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY): "Spotlight" (although it should be "Ex Machina")

Well, there are my predictions. Most will be wrong, since I'm terrible at this, but since I get paid to write about movies I felt an obligation to be a better film writer. Let me know your choices in the comments.
