There’s been plenty of good news for KPOV 106.7FM, Central Oregon’s community radio station coming down the pipe today.
I just got word from KPOV that the station has received a $112,000 federal matching grant to help the station in its quest to become a full-power FM station. Given that the grant from the Public Telecommunications Facilities Program is a matching grant, listeners will still need to raise $112,000 in order to receive the grant. The station is currently conducting its fall pledge drive, which continues through October 24, you can hit up the www.kpov.org to make a donation.
As if that wasn’t enough good news, KPOV board member Mike Reilly called in a bit ago to say that the station has been approved to move its transmitter, currently located south of town near Sunriver, to a spot on Pine Mountain. This will bring the station all the way to Redmond, where you’re currently hard pressed to pick up the station.
“It’s a much better place for the transmitter and will get us out to much more of Central Oregon, making this truly a regional community radio station,” said Reilly.
