The Helio Sequence Tonight at the Tower

The Helio Sequence plays tonight at the Tower Theatre in Bend, Oregon.

It seems like it's been months since those first posters hit the streets announcing that The Helio Sequence was coming to play at the Tower Theatre -- causing some of the more cynical indie rock fans in Bend to stop and say, "Really? No way."

But it's true, and the show, the second installment of the PDXchange Program, is tonight with our very own Empty Space Orchestra opening. I chatted with ESO's Shane Thomas at Last Band Standing a couple weeks ago and he played it pretty cool when asked how excited he and his gang were to play that show, but you could tell they were stoked. When I tried to press him about a possible ESO/Helio Sequence collaboration, he just shrugged. From my experience, shrugs mean "I dunno...maybe." I'll take that.

And it should be pointed out that we're damn lucky to have The Helio Sequence -- perhaps one of the best indie rock duos you'll ever hear -- in Bend, considering this is one of their only U.S. shows of the summer. The sounds are poppy, danceable but plenty deep. In short, it's the sort of stuff that doesn't often come to town (like Band of Horses), so take advantage of it.

The show is at 8pm, it's all ages and tickets are still available.
