See Dusty Rhodes and the River Band Sunday Night...It will be your last chance

Dusty Rhodes brings its wild show to the Silver Moon before retiring from the road.

Since Dusty Rhodes and the River Band headlined the Bite of Bend last year, they've been not only on my radar, but constantly in my ear, with their 2009 record Palace and Stage quickly becoming one of my favorites from the past few years. I even wrote a feature about the band for

That's why I've been jogging and yanking out some pull ups (three or four at a time) to get ready for the band's show on Sunday night at Silver Moon Brewing Co.

But then I saw this blog post earlier this week. Apparently, this is Dusty Rhodes' last tour -- it's not clear whether the Southern California genre-smashing, dance-inspiring group is disbanding, but it looks like they're not going to be driving all over hell and breakfast like they have for the past couple of years on national and regional tours.

This is a bummer. To say the least. But at least they're playing here one last time before retiring from the road.

OK, so a little about the band: Forget about the name, which might imply some sort of washed-up gang of past-their-prime men in bolo ties and cowboy hats -- these guys (and gal) provide a thunderous concoction of roots, soul, pop, all of which is underlined by an unmistakably rock and roll ethos. Front man Dustin Apodaca is one of the most entertaining singer/keyboardists you'll ever see, running the show like a revival preacher who wandered into an arena rock concert. See the hilarious video below to get a visual.

The show is at 9pm Sunday at the Silver Moon and the cover is $5.
