This just in from our sources in Klamath Falls: Perennial anti-tax crusader Bill Sizemore has come out in favor of a tax increase to offset the loss of federal timber payments.
According to the Medford Mail Tribune, Sizemore is a member of a Klamath County task force appointed to find ways to cut the county budget by $2.3 million in response to the lost timber payments. But Sizemore and other task force members said they'd rather see the county raise taxes through a special levy than cut police and public safety.
Sizemore insisted he isn't really calling for more taxes because he doesn't want to increase county spending, just maintain it at the present level. "This isn't asking for more, just trying to make up for a loss," he said.
Uh, okay, Bill, whatever.
