Actually, "Kesey Fan," when the hospital opened in 1883 it was in fact called the Oregon State Insane Asylum. Representatives at the Oregon State Hospital will confirm this for you.
Kind of unbelievable that "Insane" was part of the hospital's name. And yes, it now goes by Oregon State Hospital, which seems much more acceptable.
Friends: A few well-made points here—thanks for the thoughtful responses.
Please keep in mind, though, as the text above the graphic states, the info given is for a two-bedroom unit. Perhaps this insinuates a single parent? Perhaps a single parent who's attempting to go back to school, work and care for a sick child?
Certainly there are those who unfairly rely on social welfare programs, put into place to assist those truly in need. Others, however, may need temporary assistance.
It's always good to keep an open mind.
Cheers and thanks for reading!
Friends: Police Chief Jeff Sale is very aware of the real problems affecting Downtown Bend and Drake Park, as are we here at the Source. In the same department update Sale, who seems to have brought a new level of organization and innovation to the Bend Police Dept., noted that officers were running overtime operations downtown and focusing their efforts on the problem areas. Assaults, theft, heroin and other hard drugs - these are the things that demand the attention of our policemen. Not skateboarding. Thanks for reading.
