Favorite Central Oregon dish? Tough choice. There are many great restaurants and chefs in Central Oregon. Each brings something special. But one place comes to mind that has quietly and steadily slipped under and around the "trendy" radar. I have always enjoyed dining at Zydeco, and it is often the restaurant Jen and I frequent when having the rare evening out in Bend. Steve and Cheri Helt do an excellent job, the staff is always well prepared and the food is consistently very good. My favorite is the Grilled Redfish. Not only is this dish flavorful and well prepared, its presentation is attractive, and it never disappoints me. We are so excited about their move downtown. It is said that the cream rises to the top and, in my opinion, that's Steve and Cheri. They (like all successful restauranteurs) work their tails off, are very hands on and take responsibility for every item that comes out of their kitchen. Zydeco's food is always fresh and creative and we appreciate the attention to detail that Steve and Cheri show at their restaurants.
