See More Seymour: Mission Impossible III

Phillip Seymour Hoffman played plenty of borderline characters, hanging on to the outer limits of decency, but when he battles against Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible III, he is delectably evil, no apologies.

Wednesday, June 4, 7 pm. Old Stone, 157 NW Franklin. Free!

Alan Howarth: benefit concert

This must be one of the best pickup lines at a Trekkie convention: "Oh, I dunno, just the soundtracks for Star Trek, one through six!" The one man who can (honestly) say that line, Alan Howarth, will speak and perform this evening. Howarth also has composed music and soundscapes for notable movies like Indiana Jones, Halloween (2-6), Gremlins, and Christine, and was the creative contributor to two Oscar awards for Best Sound Effects for Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula and The Hunt for Red October.

Tuesday, June 4, 7 pm. Ridgeview High School Performing Arts Theatre.

Drive-In Movie Night

Although this version doesn't include Kevin Bacon, it should still be considered as just one degree from the original white t-shirt footloose rebel. Loosely the same storyline—reckless kid from big-city arrives to shake up the strict morals of a small town, and in particular, falls in love with the pastor's daughter—this 2011 remake is honestly a better film the 1984 version. What's better: Featured as a makeshift drive-in, watch from the frontseat of your car, or just use as the backdrop for an intense back-seat make-out session.

Friday, May 30, 9 pm. Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center, 3800 SW Airport Way, Redmond. $5.

Spaghetti Western Wednesdays

Spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread, served up with a classic movie. One drink minimum. Wednesdays, 6pm. Tin Pan Theater, 869 NW Tin Pan Alley. $6.
