The Art of Wilderness
The Friends of the Central Cascades Wilderness is celebrating the protection and care for the Deschutes National Forest. Featuring multiple wilderness themed films, live music and art, The Art of Wilderness event is inspired by the Silver Anniversary of the Wilderness Act. All of these films are short (less than an hour long) films produced specifically to help celebrate the anniversary of the act. "Untrammeled" is a fun collection of profiles of teenagers first going into the wilderness. Complete with beautiful scenery and invigorating stories of eyes-opening, it is hard not to jump on your feet and cheer wildly for the Wilderness Act—and the 106 million acres it has preserved as pristine and wild. Some of the films will be accompanied with performances by The Bend Brass (so cool!).

Inequality For All
Robert Reich is a cool dude. Yes, he was the Secretary of Labor for Bill Clinton, and more recently a Cal-Berkley professor. But he is also a caring dude, and concerned (as Berkelites tend to be) about the widening income gap on the American economy. But he isn't just bang-your-drum and shake your dreadlocks concerned about the 1 percent (which, if he isn't part of, he is certainly part of the 2 percent or 3 percenters); he is smart and clever about explaining the underpinnings for this divergence. Part biographical, the film demonstrates his lifelong goal of protecting American workers; an insider trying to do work for the outsiders!
