Grateful Dead: Meet Up at the Movies

Hey man, you should really come down to this far out event that's one night only at that big movie theater, man. It's a love-filled meet-up at the theater for Jerry's Kids where we will then screen the Dead's show that they played at the Beat Club in Breman, West Germany, on April 21, 1972. No miracle ticket necessary. Dancers and twirlers welcome in the aisles.

Thu., July 17, 7:30pm, Old Mill Stadium 16.

Ugly Benny

Last summer a Los Angeles film crew shot a movie in Sisters with a partial Central Oregon cast and crew. The film is Ugly Benny, and it follows the owners of a pet store as they deal with rascally youths, adorable puppies and a gruff yet lovable shop keep.

Sunday's screening will be the second showing of the film in Central Oregon after last month's screening at Sisters Movie House.

Sun., July 13, 6pm, The Belfry.

Met Opera: The Enchanted Island

Featuring arias and ensembles by Handel, Vivaldi, Rameau, Purcell and a new libretto by Jeremy Sams, The Enchanted Island is guaranteed to please even the most die hard opera fan.

With a massive running time of 3 hours and 15 minutes, Prospero, Caliban, Ariel and the rest will all have time to make an appearance.
