Justin, I think, represents the very best of an emerging generation of young people, which - despite enduring more than its share of desperation and alienation due to the wretched economy - is now poised to step forth and lead.
Justin's experience and background in public service and his understanding of the social contract will lead us out of the predicaments that plague us in times of scarcity.
He will exercise true oversight on the Park Board, which, I believe, has been too willing to be a mere rubber stamp for the appointed executive staff.
He will attempt to strike a balance among the needs of the diverse constituency of park users and will seriously consider innovations and alternatives to resolve often knotty issues.
Above all, Justin will not shrink from accessibility and accountability. The park district and its staff exist because of our tax dollars, and they must become more responsive to our concerns, which Justin, I believe, will sincerely represent.
