Inherent Vice is what would happen if Altman's The Long Goodbye had a big, fat baby with The Big Lebowski and then that hybrid baby fell in love with drugs. So many drugs. Joaquin Phoenix stars as Doc Sportello, a stoner private investigator who gets pulled in way over his head when his ex-girlfriend asks him to help find her current boyfriend. Inherent Vice is a wonderful book that has the chance to be an even better movie under the lens of super-genius P.T. Anderson.
