Not Fit For a Cat

Opinion about a bobcat living in an atrium at the High Desert Museum.

I am writing out of concern. The High Desert Museum had an old [bob]cat in the atrium for the last number of years. Although not an ideal enclosure, it seemed reasonable for an old cat. I am simply dismayed by the recent purchase of a young bobcat and to discover it will abide in the same atrium. An atrium is meant for plants. An atrium is NOT a fit home for a young active bobcat. It makes me wonder who makes these decisions, as it certainly cannot be an individual that has spent any time with wild or large animals, or with any animal for that matter. I have been a member of the museum for some time and previously a board member of the Humane Society. But decisions like this make me wonder if I can with any conscience maintain my membership. I would hope the High Desert Museum would reconsider where they house this young active animal.
