Polyrhythmics

wednesday 11

If you didn't see these guys last time they were in town, the Seattle band is giving you another chance. The Afro-funk band is one part funk, one part jam band, and one part world music (horns!, keys! bells! flutes!). Add all these parts together and you get all-night dance music. If you go to this show, pace yourself - the eight-piece band usually outlasts its fans. 21+. $7 at bendticket.com, $10 DOS. 9pm. Players Bar and Grill, 25 SW Century Dr.

OSU's Economic Impact Address by Ed Ray

Thursday 12

Last week, the members of the Bend City Council all signed off on a proclamation of sorts that said they are hugely in favor of any efforts to bring a full blown four-year university to Bend. Ray's speech ought to shed light on just why that would be an economic boon to the city. Also, Beavers unite and revel in how much ass your school is kicking these days - Ray says OSU's economic impact has grown by around $500 million, or about 33 percent, in the last five years. $20 City Club members and first time guests, $35 non-members. 11:30am-1pm. St. Charles Center for Health and Learning, 2500 NE Neff Rd.

Waiting for Godot

Friday 13

There are two very good reasons to go see this play. One, everybody says it changed theater forever and is one of the all-time greats. Two, it may be curtains for Innovation Theater Works if they don't fill the seats. Yikes! Read more in the Culture section. $20 adults, $18 seniors, students and groups. 7:30pm Wednesday-Saturday through April 21. 2pm Sundays through April 22. Innovation Theatre Works, 1155 SW Division St.

Roach Gigz

friday 13

Sure, his rhymes follow the same misogynistic patterns as a lot of the mainstream rap out there, but we dare you to navigate away from YouTube while watching his "Can I Rap" video. His flow is impressive and the hook is catchy. Joining the Bay Area artist are Berner, Clyde Carson, Nima Fadavi, Young Shotty and Isaiah Valentino. $13 at Ranch Records and bendticket.com, $15 DOS. All ages. 9pm. The Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave.

Happy Hour with Cog Wild

friday 13

Everyone likes bikes and beer - Cog Wild is bringing you both. For free! Stop in and reconnect with your fellow shredders or just say howdy to the folks who took you on that awesome tour last summer. If you're new to riding all-terrain bicycles, use this open house as an opportunity to meet riding partners and quiz the Cog Wild crew on which trails would be best for you. Pssst... We heard that they've got a keg of Chainbreaker for this event. Free. 4:30-7:30pm. 255 SW Century Dr.

Warm Gadget

saturday 14

In a town that trends toward bluegrass and jam bands, Warm Gadget brings a refreshing spritz of dark industrial rock to help keep the musical balance in check. Experimental and complex, the Central Oregon band creates a rumble that's surprisingly awesome. Hey, we like bluegrass as much as the next hippie, but sometimes you've got to thrash. Adonija opens. $4. 9pm. Silver Moon Brewing Co., 24 NW Greenwood Ave.

Go See a Movie!

Saturday 14

The Logger's Daughter

Eastern Oregon doesn't jump out to us as a place where it would be real comfortable to be an African-American. This film follows a black woman born and raised there as she traces her family story. Local Writers Read New York Poets

Sunday 15

Favorite local poets and writers will read poetry out of New York City circa 1930s. We're guessing it'll be an interesting way to spend a Sunday afternoon. You might even accidentally learn something. Open mic will follow the panel discussion. Free. 2pm. Bend Public Library, 601 NW Wall St.

The White Buffalo

monday 16

What you want to do is go to this show. What you don't want to do is get in a fight with this guy. At well over 6-feet and sporting long blonde hair and a beard to match, he looks like he could have been Gregg Allman's older brother. The White Buffalo's gruff, booming voice sings tales that are nostalgic and dark and often involve booze, love and death. All the good things in life. All ages. $13 at bendticket.com, $15 DOS. 9pm. The Annex, 51 NW Greenwood Ave.

Deschutes County Republicans Candidate Forum

Tuesday 17

A good old-fashioned Republican ho-down. On tap is the grilling of candidates for Deschutes County Circuit Court judge, including Andy Balyeat, Aaron Brenneman, and Thomas "T.J." Spear. The two Republicans vying for Democrat Alan Unger's Deschutes County Commission seat - Tom Greene and Phil Henderson - will also duke it out. Free. 7-9pm. Shilo Inn, 3105 O.B. Riley Rd.

Todd Snider

tuesday 17

The alt-country folk singer is as much a joker as he is a storyteller. Read Ethan Maffey's Sound feature on the next page to learn more about the modern day outlaw. Ashleigh Flynn opens. $25 at The Tower box office, $30 DOS. The Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall St.
