West Side Story

thursday-saturday 1-3

You've probably heard of this story - it's like Romeo and Juliet, but with more dancing. This performance is brought to you by the shining youngsters of the BEAT program and enjoys a three-day, four-show run at the spacious Summit High auditorium. April 1-3 at 7pm and April 3 at 2pm. $15/adults, $10/youth, available at 7pm Thursday, Apr 1. Summit High School, 2855 NW Clearwater Dr.

friday 2

This Colorado/Portland outfit likes to call themselves a "gypsy jazz" group, which is as good a description as anyone is going to create for this mystical acoustic troupe. The band has made many a stop in Bend over the years, partially because the band features Moon Mountain Ramblers percussionist Dale Largent. 9pm. Silver Moon Brewing Co., 24 NW Greenwood Ave.

Tour Du Chocolat

friday 2

Who likes chocolate? Uh, how about everyone? Duh. At this annual celebration of the sweet brown stuff, you can stray from the Art Hop trail to taste five different creations and get a beverage all for five bucks. All the goodies are made by local bakers, so if you find something you like, you just might be able to track it down around town later. $5 at the door only. 6pm-9pm. Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall St.

Art Hop

friday 2

Twice a year, the monthly art walk goes super size and goes from a "walk" to a "hop" with even more businesses and galleries participating in the artistic celebration. Hit up our events listings and the Gallery Association insert for more info. Begins at 5pm, Downtown Bend.

Couple Dating

opens friday 2

This play, which focuses on a couple who decide that they need to expand their circle of friends by arranging dates with other couples, is written by local actress Cricket Daniel. Check back next week for our review of the play. Wednesdays-Saturdays at 8pm. Sunday matinees at 3pm. No performance April 4. $20/adults, $18/students and seniors. Apr 2-24. 2nd Street Theater, 220 NE Lafayette Ave.

The Becker Family Benefit

saturday 3

You probably remember the news from a few weeks ago about a fire near downtown Bend that sent up a plume of smoke that could be seen throughout the city. Well, that fire destroyed the home of the Becker family and the community is rallying behind them with this ten-band, $10 show complete with spaghetti feed and silent auction. Lineup includes The Dirty Words, Jones Road, Tuck and Roll, Still Fear, The Knuckle Children, Offset, Caustic Soda, Alley Brewed, The Confederates. 5pm. Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave.

Mark Ransom's
40th Birthday Bash

saturday 3

Turn to the Sound section to read our profile of Mark Ransom, the local music guru who is celebrating his birthday with this show. Lineup includes The Mostest with Erin Cole-Baker and special guests including Leif James, Shireen Amini, Tim Schroeder and more. All ages. 7pm-11pm. McMenamins Old St. Francis School, 835 NW Wall St.

The Supersuckers, Tuck and Roll

wednesday 7

This Seattle-based rock and roll crew has been known to tear it up when they roll through Bend, and we'd be willing to bet this mid-week show will be no exception. Front man Eddie Spaghetti leads the crew with a battery of rockabilly-meets-punk-rock numbers that he serves up with a side of hilarious stage banter. If you've never seen this band, be there. This is required listening. $15/adv, $18/door. 9pm. Domino Room. 51 NW Greenwood Ave.

House of Floyd

wednesday 7

Unlike that other Pink Floyd tribute act that cancelled within days of its show a couple years ago, this group will actually show up. House of Floyd is a Southern California act that recreates not only the sound of the band, but also the lasers, lights and videos that make the trip worth it. $26/adv, $29/day of show. 7pm. Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall St.
