What to do in Central Oregon this week.

Last Band Standing

Some 500 people showed up at the first edition of Last Band Standing to lend their vote to their favorite local band and expect that trend to continue this week with performances by Rough String Band, Absofreakinlutely, High Desert Hooligans, Electric Moccasin Party and Boxcar String Band. $3/advance at BIGS, $5/door. Boondocks Bar & Grill, 70 NW Newport Ave.

Anybody Killa

friday 30

Have you heard about these rappers who paint their faces all black-and-white spooky before going onstage. Well, there's a lot of them out there now and Anybody Killa is one of those - it's like Halloween every day... and with louder bass. Tragedy, Knothead, Twisted Insane open. $10. 8pm. Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave.

12th Annual Song of the Year Awards

friday 30

Think of this as our region's very own Grammy's. During this event, members of the Central Oregon Songwriter's Association perform in the hopes that one of their tunes will be named Song of the Year. $10. 7pm. Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall St.

AM Interstate

saturday 1

Check out this week's Sound section for a feature on this longstanding local band which will tell you why you need to give these guys a listen if you haven't in a while. No cover. 9pm. Black Horse Saloon, 20565 Brinson Blvd.

Blues Amuse & Brews 2010

saturday 1

This fundraiser for the Westside Village Magnet School features a solid lineup of local bands in addition to some equally solid food (from Deschutes Brewery's Mountain Room) and drink lineup. There's also an auction featuring plenty of goods and services from different spots around town. The music lineup includes The Lakes, The Autonomics, Mark Ransom, and the WVMS Roots Rock Band. Tickets $35, available at Westside Village and the door. bluesamuseandbrews.com 5pm. Boys &Girls Club, 500 NW Wall St.

Head for the Hills

saturday 1

Yes, these guys are back again and we don't think there will be many complaints about that. Head for the Hills is a band of young bluegrassers from Colorado who play up-tempo acoustic tunes, as well as some delicious covers. Aside from their free Summer Sunday show at the LSA last year, this is probably their biggest show in Bend. $10/door only. 21 and up. 9pm. Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave.

King and Queen of the Cone

sunday 2

Do you want to race up and down a mountain? Thought you did, you crazy Bendite. Well get out there on your alpine touring, tele or splitboard gear - these are all perfectly acceptable forms of riding equipment in this competition. Register at Pine Mountain Sports. www.mtbachelor.com. 9:30am Sunday, May 2. Mt. Bachelor, 13000 Century Dr.

Powerman 5000

monday 3

There was a time when this power rock band was pretty huge on the alterna-rock scene. They still have a strong following and part of that might have to due with the fact that their front man, Spider One, is the younger brother of Rob Zombie. Local heavy acts Warm Gadget and Still Fear open. $15/adv, $18/door. Tickets available at Ranch Records and bendticket.com. 8pm. Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave.

The SpeakEasy: Who I Am

Check out the Culture section for more on this storytelling event, then arrive at the BPAC armed with a story that gives some insight into this months' theme: Who I Am. There's an eight-minute limit on stories, so don't get all longwinded. $5. 7pm Monday, May 3. Bend Performing Arts Center, 1155 SW Division St.

Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars

tuesday 4

Before this African musical troupe comes to the Tower on May 18, the theater is showing a documentary about how the band has brought hope and joy to other refugees who have been displaced and suffered awful tragedies during the civil war in Sierra Leone. This is required viewing before you see the band live - it will make you appreciate them even more. $10. 7:30pm Tuesday, May 4. Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall St.

Pub Quiz Night

wednesday 5

Here's an easy way to help the Kurera Fund, a group that assists Rwandan youths in getting an education, than to gather three of your buddies and test your smartness. Wait, is "smartness" even a word? Anyway, it's $25 for a team of four and all proceeds benefit Kurera. The Summit Saloon & Stage, 125 NW Oregon Ave.
