He'll show off his beatkeeping prowess with this new band, the Sofa Kings, the female-fronted outfit that's debuting at the newly reopened Pyro Lounge at the Old Mill Martini Bar. This local nonprofit is bringing in the talents of classical pianist and singer/songwriter Jonathan Hanks for a special concert to raise funds for the Better Life Children's Home of Kibwezi, Kenya. Brent Amaker & The Rodeo w/Problem Stick

These guys wear matching cowboy hats and country-fied get ups while playing real live country music with plenty of twang that sits nicely with the deep voice and humorous lyrics of front man Brent Amaker. This band - out of Seattle of all places - has been out on the road, criss-crossing the country on a national tour, but are stopping off at the Annex to get yer boots a kickin' just a week after the release of their album, Howdy Do. Opening up the show is the increasingly awesome and increasingly "wrecked" rockers of Problem Stick. Belt buckles will not be provided, please bring your own. 9pm. $10. San Francisco's hard-working DJ/producer J. Boogie is back in action with the release of 2008's Soul Vibrations, his first new release in five years. J. Boogie brings together his mash-up of hip-hop, dub, reggae, soul and world music creating an experience that's anything but boring. J. Boogie works with everyone from Tony Moses to Deuce Eclipse to the Crown City Rockers and Jennifer Johns on the album, dishing out music for most moods. His show at the Domino Room features a full band, ensuring some seriously funky, high-energy (and high volume) tunes guaranteed to get anyone with a pulse moving. If you're looking for a way to spice up your Wednesday night this week, this is by far your best option in Bend and with tickets fixed at $12, it's definitely worth the price. 21 and over only, doors open at 8pm. 9pm. $12.
