Mass Transit, Mindscape, Gainon the Illyrical

friday 20

Start off the weekend with a free night of local hip-hop headlined by the eclectic beats of Mass Transit. The show is hosted by Mindscape, who many of you probably know as Fish from Person People, but he's got a sweet game of his own. Oh yeah, and it's free, did we mention that. 9pm. Players Bar & Grill, 25 NW Century Dr.

Ever wonder what it's like to sing with a mouth full of cupcakes? Well, we bet former Doobie Brother Michael McDonald could tell you. Just kidding! Take it easy all you McDonald-aholics, we're just having a good time. But seriously, McDonald is making his second stop in Central Oregon within a year (he played the Schwab over the summer) to play at the Sisters Starry Night Benefit Concert Series. 7pm. $50, $35. Sisters High School Auditorium, 1700 W Mckinney Butte Rd, Sisters.

BBC 14th Anniversary Party

saturday 21

It's been almost a decade and a half since the kind folks down at the Bend Brewing Company opened their doors, and so it's time to celebrate with some specials starting at 4pm and running late into the night. Even though it's winter, the BBC patio will be rocking with live music and a merchandise clearance sale. 4pm-12am. Bend Brewing Company, 1019 NW Brooks St.

Heartbreakers Ball: Red vs. Black

saturday 21

In this formal-wear encouraged bout, two of the Renegade Rollergirls finest teams go head to head for your affection. Or something like that. But one thing is sure, there should be plenty of big hits and nasty collisions for your viewing and cheering pleasure. All ages, doors open at 7pm. 8pm bout. Midtown Music Hall, 51 NW Greenwood Ave. $10. Children under 5 are free.

Kool Keith - Dr. Doom vs Dr. Octagon, KutMasta Kurt, Mosley Wotta

It's a hip-hop legend live and on stage in Bend! Turn the page and read all about the cases for and against Kool Keith's sanity. 8pm. $18/adv, $20/door. Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave.

Ever since we lost money on Mr. T in Rocky III, we've made it a habit to abstain from sports betting, but we think we'll jump off the wagon just this once and put some money on the Globetrotters taking this one. There should be plenty of trick shots and hilarious fan-interaction stunts to feast your eyes on, so enjoy yourself. Doors at 6pm. 7pm game. Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center, North Sister Bldg., 3800 SW Airport Way, Redmond.

Tater Famine, Larry and His Flask

Acoustic punk and Americana rabble rousers Larry and His Flask open this show for this band from Aptos, Calif. that has a strikingly similar sound. Tater Famine is a drummer-less group of black-t-shirt-wearing dudes that look like punk rockers, but play a delightful brand of high-energy Americana. Locals might liken them to a slightly edgier Devil Makes Three...yeah, that's the comparison we were looking for. 8pm, Silver Moon Brewing Co. 24 NW Greenwood Ave.

WebCyclery Movie Night: PRO

tuesday 24

Another month, another WebCyclery movie night. February's installment of this fundraiser for the Central Oregon Trail Alliance is PRO, a documentary that follows the lives of professional American road racers. This film includes at least one local pro in Chris Horner...super cool. McMenamins Old St. Francis School Theatre, 700 NW Bond St. $5.

Jason Webley Trio

wednesday 25

Forget everything you've ever thought about accordions. Done? OK, now flip a few pages and find the On Stage column and learn a few reasons why you should go to this free show. All Ages. 7pm. Free. McMenamins Old St. Francis School, 700 NW Bond St.
