Kytami and Friends

Mixing electronica beats and quick-paced violin instrumentals, Kytami is a unique blend of live music and laptop rock. Taking both classical and EDM to the extremes, her snowballing sound is the perfect backdrop for a digital rocket-fueled adventure through the outer-rim stars and planets, perhaps with some narration by Neil deGrasse Tyson. Local artist Jay Tablet, along with DJ Generic, Caitlin Cardier and Roy Oneders, join for a night of dance-worthy jams. 10 pm. Sat., Oct. 4. Dojo, 852 NW Brooks St. $5.

Gift of Gab and Chandler P

One half of Bay Area hip hop duo Blackalicious, along with DJ Chief Xcel, Gift of Gab is a truly talented wordsmith with a twisting and casual flow that doesn't work too hard, but embodies a dexterous west coast style. 10 pm. Wed., Oct 8. Dojo, 852 NW Brooks St. $10.

Greg Brown

With a prolific repertoire of over two-dozen albums, Iowa folk musician Greg Brown has been praised by the likes of Rolling Stone magazine, not to mention Ani DiFranco, Gillian Welch, and Shawn Colvin. His deep growling baritone is reminiscent of a Collin Hay, Nick Drake-style of mellow, thought-provoking singer-songwriter. Wed., Oct 8. Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall St. $33-$40.
