Theory of a DeadmanEli Young Band

The musical guests of the Deschutes County Fair offer something for everyone, just so long as everyone listens to top 40 radio. Theory of a Deadman is a Canadian alternative band in the vein of Nickelback and Puddle of Mudd, counting #1 hits, "Bad Girlfriend," and "Lowlife," both heavy chugging rock songs about the bottom-of-the-barrel lifestyle. Balance that out with the Eli Young Band, pop-country western crew who sing about pretty girls, how drunk they got last night and the joys of rolling the windows down in the pickup truck.

Shawn Colvin

Among the Lilith Fair sisterhood, Shawn Colvin is a longtime acoustic folk singer-songwriter with a trio of Grammy awards and a catalogue that extends far beyond her "Sunny Came Home" fame. The Huffington Post called her recent memoir a "fractured fairytale," a phrase that accurately frames many of her vulnerable, romantic hook-based pop tunes. Tue., Aug. 5 | 7 pm.

John Hiatt and Taj Mahal

Prolific songwriter John Hiatt might be best known for the covers of his magically-crafted songs by artists like Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Nick Lowe and Joe Cocker. Hiatt will be joined by worldly blues master Taj Mahal and between the two they have over 81 years of musical mastery and two of the most praised names in American songwriting. Thurs., Aug. 7 | 7 pm.
