patio time at the new Super b.Spring has sprung in the food and restaurant industry, even though our schizo Central Oregon weather is hardly cooperating. 12 O'clock Tart (www.12oclocktart.com) has started their Bend lunchtime delivery service featuring fresh, seasonally changing items. No prepackaged soggy sandwiches here. Choose from Peppered Crusted Pork Loin, Spiced Sockeye Salmon, French Nicoise Salad or homemade desserts.

Downtown, Super Burrito is settled into its new digs next to Alpenglow on Greenwood - same great menu, more seats and lots of outside seating. The long popular lunch spot, Robbie J's Bistro, is no longer. The space on NW Columbia St, which features one of the best patio views of the river, is currently for rent. Makahna's Café and Coffee House (once in the new Super Burrito locale) is now open on 1227 NW Galveston Avenue, serving coffee, pastries and breakfast sandwiches. La Rosa is rumored to be opening their new location in Northwest Crossing on May 5 in time for Cinco de Mayo; and Volo, the upscale downtown eatery in the new 900 Bond St Building, is also slated to open in the first part of May. On May 1st, from 6PM-9PM, Jen's Garden in Sisters will host "Sisters Folk Art Circle" (549-4979), a free event, supporting Sisters Folk Festival and the Americana Project, and will feature the wonderful hors d'oeuvres and wine of Jen's. The Blue Olive at Brasada Ranch in Powell Butte (www.brasada.com) has revamped its menu for the coming season, but has retained its much-loved Swedish meatballs and rack of lamb. For the cooks among us, there are two new spots to get kitchen supplies, cooking lessons and all things culinary. Allyson's Kitchen (www.allysonskitchen.com) in the Old Mill is an import from Ashland and includes a full service deli, wine tastings and demonstrations. Each week, Allyson's will feature a class on the basics such as sauces, broiling or sautéing, as well as specialty classes with local chefs like Timothy Garling of Jackalope Grill and Dave Hatfield, the Muscle Chef and owner of Café 3456. Ginger's Kitchen Wares (1052 NW Newport Avenue, www.gingerskitchenware.com) is the located in the old Millette's and is the Westside's headquarters for cooking gear.
