100% Local. No Paywalls.

Every day, the Source publishes a mix of locally reported stories on our website, keeping you up to date on developments in news, food, music and the arts. We’re committed to covering this city where we live, this city that we love, and we hear regularly from readers who appreciate our ability to put breaking news in context.

The Source has been a free publication for its 22 years. It has been free as a print version and continued that way when we began to publish online, on social media and through our newsletters.

But, as most of our readers know, times are different for local journalism. Tech giants are hoovering up small businesses and small-business advertising—which has been the staple for locally owned media. Without these resources, journalism struggles to bring coverage of community news, arts and entertainment that social media cannot deliver.

Please consider becoming a supporter of locally owned journalism through our Source Insider program. Learn more about our program’s benefits by clicking through today.

We've all been touched my someone who has had or survived cancer. CAN Cancer is a local non-profit that provides assistance in the form of non-medical living expenses (food, lodging, travel, etc.) to Central Oregonians fighting all forms of cancer. The non-profit was established by Wilderness Garbage in cooperation with the Central Oregon Haulers, which is a group of garbage and disposal companies. In their first year, the organization raised over $13,000 and helped 69 cancer patients throughout Central Oregon.

CAN Cancer has recently been accepted to The Pepsi Refresh Project, which is a national contest that looks for people, businesses, and non-profits with ideas that will have a positive impact in the community. The CAN Cancert program has been selected as one of those programs and could win a $50,000 grant. They need your help between now and January 31, by voting for their idea. Not only does it help CAN Cancer, but it helps cancer patients and their families locally.

Take a couple minutes a day to vote and you could be helping one of your neighbors in need.
