Thanks for Putting a Damper on March Madness, Frontline

Frontline digs into the big money behind college basketball.

Actually, this report from last night's edition of Frontline was a startling, if not shocking, look at the business behind the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament.

While this year's tournament has been crazier than just about any year prior, the report outlined the big money behind this sport. In fact, some 90 percent of the NCAA's annual revenue (for all its sports) comes from the three-week tournament. The television rights alone for the tourney send some $700 million to the NCAA.

Then there's the merchandising, the video games, the tickets and all that stuff...and the players don't see a penny of that. As the documentary shows, many of them live in poverty while their coaches make three-to-four-digit salaries. So yeah...I'm a little disillusioned with my favorite sport right now. But I'll still watch Saturday's games of course.

Anyway, hit this link to watch the segment in its entirety.
