Redmond May Cancel Fireworks, Need Cash

Redmond needs $3,500 by tomorrow or there will be no fireworks!

Posted By on Tue, Jun 14, 2011 at 5:12 PM

Every year, the skies above Redmond light up with colorful explosions to celebrate the Fourth of July. But this year could be different.

This morning, the Redmond Chamber of Commerce put the call out for donations, saying that they needed $3,500 by tomorrow to ensure that the annual fireworks display at the Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center would go on as planned. If they don't get the cash gathered by tomorrow, there will be no fireworks. And somewhere, Paul Revere will be rolling in his grave.

For those who love fireworks and live in Redmond, they can make donations to the Redmond Chamber of Commerce (446 SW 7th Street) or Redmond City Hall (716 SW Evergreen).
