If you're looking for positive indicators from the local economy, we may have one for you -- today the Riverhouse Hotel and Convention Center announced that they brought in a record amount of meeting attendees in a single month since the facility opened in 2006.
The hotel estimates that the uptick in visitors injected $3.8 million into the local economy.
That's not bad, especially since we're talking about September, which typically isn't thought of as a peak tourist month in Bend.
According to the Riverhouse, 27 different groups hosted events at the convention center, bringing in large numbers of people into the area.
Sure, it might not be the sort of game-changer we need to resuscitate the local economy, but hey, we'll take what we can get.
