Chainbreaker added to permanent Deschutes lineup

Deschutes Brewery adds Chainbreaker to permanent lineup

The six core beers in the Deschutes Brewery lineup are members of a prestigious club. In the microbrew world they're icons. Titans. Pillars of quality and consistency. It's not often that a new beer makes the cut, so congrats are in order for Chainbreaker, the brewery's new White IPA.

Deschutes announced today that the beer, which has been available intermittently at special events and the Bend and Portland pubs, will now join its regular lineup. Bottles are scheduled to hit shelves around the Northwest by the end of March.

The beer is "a hop-forward, citrus-packed beer" with notes of coriander and an underlying wheaty profile that makes it a true marriage of witbier and IPA. At an alcohol level of 5.6 percent with 60 IBUs, the beer definitely has some guts, just like participants in its namesake, one of Central Oregon's ballsiest bike races.
