Your support for independent local news is important.

The Source Weekly has been Central Oregon’s locally owned news outlet for over 23 years. We have always been the definition of "support local." Our success in navigating this new world is tied to the success we experience in pulling together for the common good.

Quality local journalism takes a group of dedicated reporters passionate about democracy and open government. This story is the result of our hard work, and in normal times, the result of the support of the advertisers in Central Oregon. In the age of COVID-19, however, that support has taken a hit—but that’s where you come in.

Little Woody and Maragas Stomp (Bacchus Loves Bend)

Pick your poison this weekend.

Posted By on Fri, Aug 31, 2012 at 7:10 PM

It’s a classic Labor Day match up: wine versus beer, grapes versus hops, oenophile versus beer connoisseur.  So pick your poison and head outside to celebrate summer’s end.

The Little Woody celebrates craft brewing this weekend with specially produced beers aged in wine, whiskey and oak barrels from 10 Barrel, Bend Brewing, Boneyard, Brew Werks, GoodLife, Deschutes, McMenamins, Silver Moon, Cascade Lakes and more! The Anvil Blasters, Grit and Grizzle and Five Pint Mary will perform as well as local comedians Chelsea Woodmansee and Ali Goodnough. If you get hungry Broken Top Bottle Shop, Level 2, Whole Foods, Pisano’s and Red Napkin have got you covered. Des Chutes Historical Museum, 129 NW Idaho Ave., Aug. 31-Sept. 1.

Maragas Winery hosts its third annual Grape Stomp Saturday. Bring a glass and sample Maragas wines including Beat Red made from the last years stomp. Stomp contests and a barrel raffle starts at 12:30 p.m. and bluegrass band Back from the Dead band will be playing all afternoon. The event is family friendly so bring a picnic and some low rise chairs and settle in on the lawn for an afternoon of wine tasting, grape stomping and toe tapping. Maragas Winery 15523 SW Hwy 97, Culver, Sept. 1, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
