Posted By on Wed, Oct 31, 2012 at 10:25 PM

Mickey vs VaderListen up nerds, this directly affects you! Disney announced on Tuesday that it had purchased Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion.

The force is strong for Disney who have already announced plans for Star Wars Episode VII, to be released in 2015. George Lucas, who directed six Star Wars films, was the sole shareholder and retained 100% creative control of Lucasfilm which brought theworld beloved sci-fi classics like the iconic Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

Disney now owns the rights to Lucasfilm, Marvel and Pixar. In other words, the trifecta of super-nerd film culture.

What does this mean for Jar Jar Binks and Short Round? It’s a mystery but prepare to be completely impressed, or thoroughly disappointed. Here is a video of Lucas talking about the future of the Star Wars franchise.
