Yoga in Bend Gets a Makeover

Sad news/happy news for Bend's yoga community.

First, the sad: After four years of operationMandala Yoga Community will be closing its doors on Dec. 22, according to owner/instructor Kat Seltzer.

BUT...

The good news: Kat and most of the rest of the Mandala instructors aren't going away. Mandala will be merging its business with Back Bend Yoga. More yoga with more resources!

Youll still be able to access Uji breath.

What does the merge mean?

First off, Mandala will remain open through the morning of Dec. 22. During the week or so between now and then, the downtown yoga studio is offering some pretty great deals.
Single class $8
5 class pack $40
1 week unlimited $25

And your Mandala membership will be honored at Back Bend, a yoga studio off Century Dr. on Bend's westside.

Selzter said she'll be very involved over at Back Bend but is looking forward to being more of an instructor and less of a business woman. Of course we'll miss the downtown location, with its natural light, exposed timbers and brick walls, but it's good to hear the Seltzer and the gang will continue to teach.

Here are the final events at Mandala:
Dec 21: Candlelit Bhakti Flow Class at 4pm; Last class on Dec. 22 at 9am with Ulla Lundgren. A potluck brunch and slideshow will follow the class.
And upcoming an Back Bend:
Steve Gold plays world music on Jan. 11.

"It's really sad," Seltzer said yesterday. "I don't feel wonderful about it [closing Mandala]. But Back Bend has a great energy over there. And I always thought there were one too many yoga studios in this town."
