Your support for independent local news is important.

The Source Weekly has been Central Oregon’s locally owned news outlet for over 23 years. We have always been the definition of "support local." Our success in navigating this new world is tied to the success we experience in pulling together for the common good.

Quality local journalism takes a group of dedicated reporters passionate about democracy and open government. This story is the result of our hard work, and in normal times, the result of the support of the advertisers in Central Oregon. In the age of COVID-19, however, that support has taken a hit—but that’s where you come in.

You'll never guess who won Time's Person of the Year..Again

Posted By on Wed, Dec 19, 2012 at 10:09 AM

Just kidding. It wasn't a huge surprise at all as President Barack Obama took home the crown again. He first claimed the title in 2008 after winning his first election. After a bruising campaign against republican challenger Mitt Romney, he won the election this year and told people the "best is yet to come." Time magazine refers to Obama as the "architect of the new america" and we hope that is true as all we hear about this holiday season is the president's proposed "fiscal cliff" plan that would help the federal deficit. But nothing has been done as House Speaker John Boehner disagrees with Obama's plan and is proposing a so-called "plan b" to help with the deficit. Whatever happens, the President has done and will continue to accomplish remarkable things for our great country.
