New Music Roundup

Minimalist ambient R&B singer James Blake is inching his way toward a new album. He followed up his self-titled 2011 debut, with the Enough Thunder EP that featured "Fall Creek Boys Choir," a collaboration with Bon Iver's Justin Vernon. Now, he returns with his new single "Retrograde" and it's awesome. His new album Overgrown is slated to be released April 8. That's almost too far away.

In case you haven't had your eyes peeled lately, Justin Timberlake is also headed toward his first new release since 2006. His first two new songs "Mirrors"— an eight minute anthem and "Suit and Tie"— featuring Jay Z, may be a bit more R&B on the surface, but they are still pop at heart. It will be interesting to see what else Timberlake has been able to cook up during the past 7 years.

Another band who had one of 2011's best albums was The Weather Station. So far in 2013, they've been releasing a series of double singles under the name Duets. Well, Duets #3 just came out and it might be the best of the bunch. Featuring a collaboration with fellow label mates Marine Dreams, The Weather Station's third Duets installment uses more of the rich vintage pop sound TWS executed so well with their last album. Now let's just get all of these songs on one record.
