100% Local. No Paywalls.

Every day, the Source publishes a mix of locally reported stories on our website, keeping you up to date on developments in news, food, music and the arts. We’re committed to covering this city where we live, this city that we love, and we hear regularly from readers who appreciate our ability to put breaking news in context.

The Source has been a free publication for its 22 years. It has been free as a print version and continued that way when we began to publish online, on social media and through our newsletters.

But, as most of our readers know, times are different for local journalism. Tech giants are hoovering up small businesses and small-business advertising—which has been the staple for locally owned media. Without these resources, journalism struggles to bring coverage of community news, arts and entertainment that social media cannot deliver.

Last month we told you about local orchestral rock band Isles and their improvisational shows. As promised, their first new album made of instrumental rock is set to be recorded during a live show this weekend during Last Saturday.

As members of Isles talked about during our interview with them at Good Life Brewing in May, they also have plans for an ambitious album that includes rehearsed/written music with thematic lyrics. As a special treat some of those songs will be featured as well.

The show gets started at 7 p.m. in their recording space at Studio 3 (In the Old Ironworks near Sparrow Bakery). There will be a short intro/improv set followed by the full concert at 8:30. A portion of the show will be recorded and used for their instrumental live album that is set to be released later this summer. The show is FREE.

Here is a teaser video the band put together:
