Weekend Roundup! | Bent

Coverage for Central Oregon, by Central Oregonians.
100% Local. No Paywalls.

Every day, the Source publishes a mix of locally reported stories on our website, keeping you up to date on developments in news, food, music and the arts. We’re committed to covering this city where we live, this city that we love, and we hear regularly from readers who appreciate our ability to put breaking news in context.

The Source has been a free publication for its 22 years. It has been free as a print version and continued that way when we began to publish online, on social media and through our newsletters.

But, as most of our readers know, times are different for local journalism. Tech giants are hoovering up small businesses and small-business advertising—which has been the staple for locally owned media. Without these resources, journalism struggles to bring coverage of community news, arts and entertainment that social media cannot deliver.

Please consider becoming a supporter of locally owned journalism through our Source Insider program. Learn more about our program’s benefits by clicking through today.

Weekend Roundup!

This weekend promises a wide enough range of spectacles and activities to entertain just about everyone. Oh, and beer. Lots and lots of beer.

Tonight at Silver Moon Brewing, 36 local homebrewers compete for glory at Battle of the Brews. Music by Nicolas Miranda to follow. We've all got that one friend who makes terrible homebrew, but don't worry, there's always plenty of Silver Moon beers on tap. 7pm.

Braaaaaiiiiins...If you prefer slurping up gray matter to amber, splatter on some fake blood and head down to the Bellatazza Plaza on Saturday for the Bend Zombie Run. Be a zombie and chase down terrified "survivors" as you race towards victory and the post-apocalyptic party (sponsored by Widmer and 10 Barrel) at Crow's Feet Commons, with music by The Rum and the Sea. Prizes awarded for best zombie and survivor costumes, as well as top men's and women's finishers. Day of race registration $35.

Pasties more your thing? The Va Va Voom Burlesque Vixens take over Volcanic Theater Pub on Saturday night, along with music from Slaughter Daughters. Straight from Humboldt County, the Vixens put on a show that is at once comedic and sultry. $8. Tickets available at www.bendticket.com.

On Sunday, I hear there's football. Check the schedule here.
