Your support for independent local news is important.

The Source Weekly has been Central Oregon’s locally owned news outlet for over 23 years. We have always been the definition of "support local." Our success in navigating this new world is tied to the success we experience in pulling together for the common good.

Quality local journalism takes a group of dedicated reporters passionate about democracy and open government. This story is the result of our hard work, and in normal times, the result of the support of the advertisers in Central Oregon. In the age of COVID-19, however, that support has taken a hit—but that’s where you come in.

Friday Mixtape! The First Day of Sasquatch.

It’s a mere three weeks until the ever popular SASQUATCH! Music Festival gets underway Memorial Day Weekend at The Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington. So now’s the time to start planning all the, can’t-miss, bands of the festival.

Of course, even those not attending can still benefit by checking out music from bands in the lineup and discovering something brand new.

This Friday Mixtape is full of day-one headliners—like Outkast—and the smaller indie bands—like Kithkin and Modern Kin—that can sometimes be as much of a draw as the big name artists. Just be sure to plug a couple of other names into your search engine of choice as well to complete the picture as not every artist is on Spotify. Austin Texas native Alejandro Rose-Garcia—aka Shakey Graves—brings haunting country music to this year’s event and Maya Rudolph of Saturday Night Live fame could likely be one of the first day’s most entertaining acts with her Prince cover band, Princess. Yes, that’s right, a Prince cover band at Sasquatch.
