Robin Williams tribute: SAT @ Volcanic 7 pm | Bent

Your support for independent local news is important.

The Source Weekly has been Central Oregon’s locally owned news outlet for over 23 years. We have always been the definition of "support local." Our success in navigating this new world is tied to the success we experience in pulling together for the common good.

Quality local journalism takes a group of dedicated reporters passionate about democracy and open government. This story is the result of our hard work, and in normal times, the result of the support of the advertisers in Central Oregon. In the age of COVID-19, however, that support has taken a hit—but that’s where you come in.

Robin Williams tribute: SAT @ Volcanic 7 pm

Posted By on Thu, Aug 14, 2014 at 1:52 PM

I first saw Robin Williams on my favorite childhood TV show, "Happy Days."  He was an evil Orkin who froze all of Milwaukee until, of course, the Fonz broke the spell and saved the day.
Throughout my childhood, Williams' manic zeal was a regular part of my cultural diet - of course, Mork & Mindy, but then also drawing me into serious movies with "Moscow on the Hudson," which I went to only because it had comedian Robin Williams, but then convinced me that serious movies can be fun to watch as well.

On Saturday, Volcanic Theatre hosts a screening of Mrs. Doubtfire, a perfect capsule of his talents, funny yet sensitive.

7 pm. $5 donation requested.
