Mt Bachelor Ski Resort Set to Open Saturday

Snow enthusiasts rejoice! Mt Bachelor has announced they will open their Sunshine Accelerator lift Saturday, November 21st.

Press release:

"We have some awesome news to share: Mt. Bachelor will open for its 58th winter season tomorrow!

Although the compacted snow base isn’t quite deep enough to permit sustained skiing and snowboarding on our primary runs just yet, there is enough snow beneath the Sunshine Accelerator lift to allow for the creation of a pre-Thanksgiving terrain park. Starting Saturday and until further notice, the park - served by the Sunshine Accelerator lift and featuring several small boxes and rails - will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Resort services that will be available beginning Saturday:
  • Food & beverages at Cocoa's Café and the Clearing Rock Bar in West Village Lodge
  • Gravity Sports @ Mt. Bachelor retail shop, featuring all new 2016 gear and discounts up to 50% on carryover items from last season
  • Equipment rentals and private ski & snowboard lessons
  • Walk-up tubing at the Snowblast Tubing Park from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for $10

The opening date for other services, including childcare, group ski & snowboard lessons and the Nordic Center, will be announced in the coming days.

We will continue our preparations to open additional lifts, terrain and services in time for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, but we'll need a little more help from Mother Nature. Let's hope that a colder storm projected to arrive Tuesday will deliver the necessary snow that would allow us to open more of the mountain. We will also continue to make snow on Thunderbird run, beneath the Pine Marten Express lift, whenever temperatures allow.

Please adhere to our uphill travel policy which goes into effect today (http://www.mtbachelor.com/site/winter/uphill)and avoid areas where our team is making and hauling snow and track packing the runs. Also please remember, ODOT/USFS parking restrictions are now in effect along Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway - parking along the highway shoulders is prohibited - parking is only allowed at designated Snow Parks with a valid Sno Park permit. Parking at the Sunrise entrance gate is also now prohibited.

All 2015-2016 Full Season, Midweek and 12 Day passes along with 4-Packs are valid to use beginning Saturday. If you still need to pick up your new pass, our sales & service center in the Mountain Gateway building at West Village will open its doors at 8:30 a.m."

Enjoy!
