Better Living Through Music: Lykke Li

Posted By on Mon, May 12, 2014 at 3:25 PM

Ok...I know it's beautiful and sunny outside today...the weather is too lovely for listening to sad songs, but I'm sharing some tragic tracks anyway. Take this springtime!

Swedish songstress Lykke Li isn't keeping it light and fluffy with her newest album, I Never Learn . The indie-pop is fit for the worst break up of your life, with grandiose, sweeping songs about the pain of loosing love (especially the ending heartbreaking last track, "Sleeping Alone"). The authenticity in Li's delivery on tracks like "Love me Like I'm Not Made of Stone" is remarkable as she stumbles on the line "Even though it...hurts."

Better Living Through Music: Gold Casio "Colors On the Wall"

Posted By on Mon, Apr 28, 2014 at 3:28 PM

Portland via Bend act Adventure Galley released their most recent EP Anywhere That's Wild last November. But members have had plenty of other projects in the works. Brothers Brock and Forrest Grenfell and fellow bandmate George Shultz are taking keyboard obsessed disco pop to a whole new level with side project Gold Casio. A baseline that sounds stripped straight from a Blur song and psychedelic tumbling keyboard riffs make Gold Casio's first track a danceable club anthem.

Read more about the release in an interview with the band in Impose Magazine.
