Tickets on sale now

Posted By on Mon, Dec 11, 2017 at 4:50 PM

On Dec. 5, Sisters Folk Festival announced its 2018 Winter Concert Series Lineup. Purchase tickets for the entire series or individual concerts at their website: sistersfolkfestival.org/winter-concert-series

SFF 2018 Winter Concert Series

Josh Ritter kicks off the SFF 2018 Winter Concert Series Tues., Jan. 23 at Sisters High School Auditorium. The 20-year music veteran and singer-songwriter just released his new album, "Gathering," in September and it's already garnering critical acclaim.

Irish band We Banjo 3 has coined the term "Celtgrass" to describe their blend of traditional Irish, old time and bluegrass. This quartet, made up of two sets of brothers, was billed for the canceled 2017 Sisters Folk Festival and are making their way back for the 2018 Winter Concert Series.

The final show in the 2018 Winter Concert Series features Darlingside, a favorite among festival goers. They’re touring on the back of their new album, “Extralife,” returning to Central Oregon for the first time since their show at the Tower Theatre in November 2016.

This solid Led Zeppelin tribute features four ladies who live and breathe Zeppelin. Clementine, the founding member of Zepparella, tackles the best rock drumming ever written with her own emotionally powerful style, bringing the Motown influence of the Bonham groove to the forefront. Gretchen Menn lends her genre-bending guitar melodies—mixing elements of classical, rock, progressive, jazz and metal. Her 2017 album, "The Lonely, The Lonesome and The Gone" is a breathtaking hybrid of country, soul, gospel and blues — that comes from Womack’s core. // $42/adv., $50/meet & greet (doesn't incl. ticket) on bendticket.com

This past November, I interviewed folk-pop band The Horde & The Harem front man and former Bendite Ryan Barber for a piece in the Source. And though I regrettably missed the show at The Horned Hand that Thursday, I heard from several people it was pretty awesome.

This Friday night The Horde & The Harem are back. They'll return to The Horned Hand for a 3/1 show that starts at 8 p.m. with opening band The Beautiful Train Wrecks. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Get ready for the show by watching the two videos below. The first is a TH&TH trailer for their spring tour and the second is their music video for their pop hit "Chasing Crows."

Method Man Coming to Bend

Posted By on Thu, Jan 31, 2013 at 7:06 PM

Careful Method... this isnt Washington.
  • Careful Method... this isn't Washington.

Bend has definitely hosted a fair share of rap artists over the last few months. Snoop Dogg was here recently as well as DMX. We've also been scammed a bit about some coming here.

But the announcement that former Def Jam recording artist Method Man is coming to The Domino Room Feb. 27 seems legit enough. The show is courtesy of Random Presents— a trusted source for live music bookings in our community and tickets are up for sale on Bend Ticket— another trusted outlet.

Oh... and there's also the fact that Method Man hasn't done anything worth noting in a long time. (his website hasn't even been updated since 2009) So there really would be no reason to think anyone would want to hype a fake Method Man show.

It could be that this is an attempt at drumming up support for the new album he's been hinting at for the last 3 years. But either way, there's bound to be some Wu-Tang fans out there who will want to attend more for his old school stuff rather than anything new he's putting out.

Old school, like this awesome song from the movie How High. Which also begs the question... WTF ever happened to Toni Braxton?

Mickey Hart is Coming to Bend and We Want to Give You His New CD

Win a copy of Hart's new album by telling us the best Dead era in terms of their keyboard player. Read on for more info.

Posted By on Fri, Apr 27, 2012 at 6:49 PM

Mickey HartCalling all deadheads!

Mickey Hart, former drummer for the Grateful Dead, is playing at the Tower on May 7 and we have an extra copy of his new CD, Mysterium Tremendum to give away.

Hart's spacey/world-beat jams are easy on the ears and at least one of us here on the Source's editorial staff is psyched for the upcoming show.

So, put down the bong long enough to read how to win a copy of his new album that is sitting on my desk this very minute.

Being Dead fans, we have a favorite Dead-era. To win the CD you have to tell us what were the best years to see the Dead/when were they making the best music.

And! You must do so by referencing said years in terms of their keyboard player (they had a lot of them, most of them are now dead—you didn't want to play the keys for the Dead. It's a cursed position, apparently).

Got it? It's easy. Share our Facebook post and leave your answer as a Facebook comment. There is only one correct answer! (according to us). The first person to answer correctly will be notified via the bookface and can then come down Shakedown Street Bond St. to pick up a shiny new Mickey Hart CD.

You can read our interview with Hart in next week's issue. And if you want tickets to the show, they're available at the Tower's website ($41).
