Every day, the Source publishes a mix of locally reported stories on our website, keeping you up to date on developments in news, food, music and the arts. We’re committed to covering this city where we live, this city that we love, and we hear regularly from readers who appreciate our ability to put breaking news in context.

The Source has been a free publication for its 22 years. It has been free as a print version and continued that way when we began to publish online, on social media and through our newsletters.

But, as most of our readers know, times are different for local journalism. Tech giants are hoovering up small businesses and small-business advertising—which has been the staple for locally owned media. Without these resources, journalism struggles to bring coverage of community news, arts and entertainment that social media cannot deliver.

Scanlon's Restaurant to Re-Open on June 25.

Scanlon's restaurant will be re-opening on June 25.

Posted By on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 12:04 AM

Scanlon's restaurant, located in the Athletic Club of Bend, will be reopening on Saturday, June 25. The revitalized dinning room now offers a “new menu designed to nourish and refuel both body and soul,” said a press release issued by the Athletic Club.

The restaurant, which has been closed since late April, remodeled their look and menu to offer patrons a healthier option.

“Over the years, as Bend has grown and changed we’ve discovered an emerging need to serve the segment of the dining public looking for healthier alternatives on a restaurant menu,” explained General Manager Kip Heilman.
Along with a healthier and more delicious menu, the restaurant will also be offering a wine list with twenty wine selections priced at $20 or less.

Along with an extensive wine list, the restaurant is offering dinner on their outdoor patio, along with breakfast and lunch on Sundays. Anyone (the restaurant is open to the public) looking to enjoy a healthy meal or even just a new glass of wine can check out Scanlon’s when they re-open this weekend.
