Brandi Carlile Returns to Bend's Tower Theatre

On March 17 and 18, 2010, Brandi Carlile returns to the Tower Theatre in Bend, Oregon.

There are some acts that descend on Bend and suddenly become instant favorites, continuing to come back time and time again.

We might be able to add Brandi Carlile to that list. After opening a show for Sheryl Crow at the Les Schwab Amphitheater (and performing a duet with the mega-star, see the video at the end of the post) Crow returned in June of this year for a sold-out acoustic show at the Tower Theatre.

Now, Carlile is returning again, thanks to Random Presents, this time for a two-night engagement at the Tower on March 17 and 18. Now word yet on whether these are acoustic again or will feature Carlile’s more rocking sound. Check out her rock capability here with this cover of CCR’s “Fortunate Son.”

I went to the last show at the Tower under the assumption that Carlile had some strong pipes but was, at the end of the day, a mere pop star. I was wrong. Carlile is one hell of a songwriter and a brilliant performer to boot. She sang one song without a microphone, standing at the edge of the Tower stage, letting her voice speak for itself – and it was incredible. Oh, and she’s pretty funny, as he displayed when relaying a hilarious tale of recording a duet with Sir Elton John.

Again, she’s not what you may have been led to think she is.
