The Source is kicking off a run of concerts with its sister company, Lay It Out Events, and it's called the Old Stone Music Series, because, well it's going down at the Old Stone Church.

The series begins on April 23 with a show from Tony Furtado, an Oregon-based multi-instrumentalist who has played some memorable shows here in town. Remember when he almost ripped the bricks from the walls of the buildings (no, not literally) on Minnesota Avenue with his funk-meets-Americana sound? The fast-picking guitarist and banjoist most recently released his 2008 album Deep Water and continues to tour the Northwest and beyond.

Check out his cover of the Tom Petty classic "Running Down a Dream."

The second show of the series, on May 9, brings to the Old Stone stage Chic Gamine, a mostly-female Canadian soulful crew. Like any good Canadian band, they can sing in both French and English, purveying a mostly poppy but remarkably deep sound without any instruments, other than percussion.

How do they do this? Well, they use their voices -- but this isn't a cornball a capella act, but rather an awesomely soulful project that can bring to mind either Lilly Allen or Pink Martini's China Forbes.

Here they are in action:

The series closes out with Peppino D'Agostino on May 14. D'Agonstino is a renowned guitarist, and has even been named Guitar Player magazine's Best Acoustic Guitarist. We'll have more on this classical guitarist as the event gets closer.

Tickets for all shows can be purchased at
