Last Band Standing Application Deadline Approaching!

Posted By on Thu, Apr 8, 2010 at 5:23 PM

There have been local talent shows and artist showcases in Bend before, but nothing like Last Band Standing, sponsored by Clear 101.7. This contest is a local band’s dream come true because the prizes are simply ridicules, in an extremely good way.

First prize is valued at $30k and includes a 15-passenger Dodge Band Van, with custom paint job, a fulled-equipped brand-spanking-new sound system, record contact with Topsecret Records, a Gibson guitar, and more – yes, more! Not to mention, second, third and forth places also get awesome prizes as well, such as a 42 inch flat screen TV, a 4-night stay at the Red Lion Inn and a $500 gift certificate to Mum’s Tattoo, respectively.

The Source Weekly is sponsoring and our very own Mike Bookey will be acting as a judge. They’re looking for all kinds of performers (who must be at least 21) and entries must be submitted by this Sunday, April 11, 2010. So what are you waiting for? They’re choosing 32 bands to compete in a series of live rounds on Thursdays starting on April 22, all at Boondock’s.

That's why we're asking you, the Internet reading folks in Bend, to help us find the low-life couple that distracted local filmmaker Chris Kas, then proceeded to jack his leather jacket which contained his wallet, keys and a borrowed HD video camera. It’s been a while since we’ve seen the talented (and now married) Matt & Kali in Bend Oregon… but that’s all going to change tonight at Silver Moon Tap Room! If you’ve missed past coverage of The Ascetic Junkies, well… you must have been hidden under a rock. From their 2010 album This Cage Has No Bottom, to the new music they are creating (and are sure to share with us tonight), most people just can’t get enough of their unique folk/rock/pop/dance goodness.
