Summer Music Begins! Goo Goo Dolls, Band of Horses, She & Him

It's Memorial Day -- so get out and see some music, jerk.

Posted By on Fri, May 28, 2010 at 11:28 PM

Summer is here. Kind of. But let's forget about the weather for a second and focus at the topic at hand (well, the topic that doesn't have to do with "Jason Evers" turning out to be a robot spy) and look at the beginning out the outdoor music season here in Bend.

Tonight, the Goo Goo Dolls open up the Les Schwab Amphitheater in style with a big show sure to bring many of us back to the glory days of the late 1999s. And just look out your window - it's not raining!

The music continues on Sunday at the LSA when Band of Horses, fresh off the release of their new record, Infinite Arms, light up the stage with one of the most talked-about shows (at least in some camps) I've witnessed in my time here. Opening the show, of course, is She & Him, the superstar duo that I profiled in this week's issue.

There's also the Sasquatch Festival (where I'll be) happening up at the Gorge and a ton of other shows happening around town. Check out our clubs and live music calendar for a guide.

Happy music weekend everyone!

That's why we're asking you, the Internet reading folks in Bend, to help us find the low-life couple that distracted local filmmaker Chris Kas, then proceeded to jack his leather jacket which contained his wallet, keys and a borrowed HD video camera. It’s been a while since we’ve seen the talented (and now married) Matt & Kali in Bend Oregon… but that’s all going to change tonight at Silver Moon Tap Room! If you’ve missed past coverage of The Ascetic Junkies, well… you must have been hidden under a rock. From their 2010 album This Cage Has No Bottom, to the new music they are creating (and are sure to share with us tonight), most people just can’t get enough of their unique folk/rock/pop/dance goodness.
