PDXchange Program Announces Fall Shows: The Thermals, Blind Pilot, Weinland/Laura Veirs

Henry Abel and the PDXchange program continues to roll out awesome show.

Three cheers for the PDXchange Program!

OK, now that you've done the whole "hip-hip-hooray" thing in your mind three times, or perhaps out loud if you're the sort of person who yells excitedly to yourself, here's the reason for our collective excitement: Henry Abel, the man behind the PDXchange Program, has announced three more shows at the Tower Theatre for the fall.

Last night Loch Lomond and Portland Cello Project played to a mostly full Tower Theatre, making it the latest successful show for the concert series. The series' organizers also took the opportunity to announce three more shows.

On September 8, The Thermals, one of Portland's best punky indie rock bands is playing what will almost certainly be one of the wildest/coolest/hip-hip-hooray-inducing shows in Tower history. Check the bottom of this page for video of one of my favorite songs of 2009, The Thermals' "Now We Can See."

Then on September 29, one of the most talked-about folk rock acts currently touring, Blind Pilot, will take the stage. This is huge and if you've heard the band's record, Three Rounds and a Sound, you'll likely agree with that.

Rounding out the newly announced shows is an October 27 show from Laura Veirs and Wienland, keeping the folky vibe of the series going.

So yeah...who's pumped for The Thermals! Hip-hip hooray! OK, I'll stop the old-timey cheering now.
